Concrete polishing is the process of grinding, honing and polishing a floor's concrete surface to attain a specific desired level of gloss. Polished concrete is a long-lasting, extremely durable, hard-wearing, sustainable flooring option that has become an ever-increasingly popular go-to for looks and benefits.
A polished concrete floor can be achieved on old or new concrete. The process involves heavy grinding equipment which mechanically grinds with rough abrasive diamond grit disks to clean up the floor and get it as level possible. It then works its way up to the finer grit diamond and resin disks until it reaches a satin or high gloss look depending upon the desired results.
A variety of flooring maintenance products and materials release volatile organic compounds (VOCs). In contrast, polished flooring has no VOCs, enabling the air quality breathed in by staff and customers to be cleaner.
No hazardous or toxic chemicals are utilized in the installation and maintenance.
Polished concrete is stain-resistant and dust-free, only needing sweeping and mopping to avoid dirt accumulation as its maintenance.
Different levels of gloss and shine.
The investment of materials and labor of concrete polishing are significantly lower than other floor projects.
Polished concrete that I have properly installed has long-term durability. It is recommended for settings with a high volume area because of its scratch resistant quality and ease of maintenance.
